Meet the New Addition

This is the lastest addition in my life.... I have renamed him Albus. He is a 2.5 year old netherland dwarf. He was adopted from another family who no longer had enough time for him. He has just joined our little family and we are still adjusting. Albus needs to bond to me before I begin bonding him with Odin so we still have a ways to go. Bonding bunnies of the same sex usually takes some time and serious supervision. The photo featuring Albus was taken for a weekly photo group that some friends and I have. This week's theme was "magic."

Grad School Update- I will be attending ETSU. They are offering me a graduate assistantship that pay for tuition and includes a stipend while UT has offered me a swift kick to the checkbook and directions to the student loan office. I can hardly believe that I am actually a few short weeks from graduating.

Oh How I Love the Old Fashioned Post

The new news in the Gardner circle this week.....I have been accepted to grad school. I'm pretty excited about it. I have been accepted to UT and I am still awaiting word from ETSU.

Long time no update

Last semester ended up going rather well all in all. Good grades all around, most importantly though I made it out alive. Last semester I took 18 hours, worked and did martial arts- it was crazy. Highlights of last semester- Wes and I had our 1 year anniversary, I reached the new rank of ii-kyu in martial arts (the one directly under black), my good friends Jimmy and Stacy got engaged, Wes started Pharmacy school, and Odin continued to tried and remove the paint off all the walls and was a viking for Halloween.

This semester I am taking 12 hours. Management, International Human Resource Management, Intro to Public Health, and 3 hours of PE. I was also hired yesterday as a server at a hibachi restaurant in Knoxville called Wasabi. I start on Saturday. I will also be an academic tutor for the student athletes in economics if I succeed in an interview tomorrow. My only really big fear now is that I might have accidentally over extended myself again, but I need money to eat lol.

I am in the process of applying to the Public Administration(MPA) programs at UTK and ETSU. I'm just one recc. letter short on my ETSU app. I would appear one of my professors has forgotten about me. I hope to finish up all of that stuff by February.

Things to look forward to this semester....
-I graduate in May.
-I will be eligible for sho-dan(my black belt)
-Odin will have his First Birthday!!!!!!
-Whether or not I get into grad school

Time for the bunny update. Odin has decided he wants to go to China. He has been attempt to lick a hole to china in an attempt to visit what I can only assume to be long lost distant cousins. He has started this excavatory journey on the arm of the couch. I have attempted to tell him that you can't actually lick your way through the earth but he refuses to hear reason. He has also developed an unstoppable love for Capn Crunch. I have had to shove his face out of my cereal bowl constantly since he made this discovery.

So Today I Discover Blogger

I have been blogging for ages on livejournal (http://orion-smiles.livejournal.com ) but this site will allow me to lovingly terrorize my cousin Helen while keeping the Heath clan up to speed with at least two Gardner girls and a bunny. Also with blog can be free of memes and pointless quizzes.

So all those Heaths must wonder.....what on earth has Laura been doing?!?

This summer I have been living on my own in Knoxville. Yep that's right, I have my own apartment and a roommate. His name is Odin - he is a 2.2lb Holland Lop rabbit. He enjoys running VERY fast, knocking over "bunny fences,"eating raisins, flopping, trying to eat paint off the wall, and forehead "pettings".

I have been interning for a small town -Maryville- that is 30 minutes south of Knoxville. I did a large annexation study for them and my last official day is this Thursday however there may be a minor extension on my internship due to a request from another department.

Classes start next Wednesday. It will be my senior year and I am presently the darling of a small econ department (at UT for anyone who couldn't remember). Amy will be moving into her dorm on campus (also UT) this Saturday. My classes are :
  • Macro econ- Business Cycles and Growth
  • Educational Psychology
  • Business Law
  • Environmental and Natural Resource Policy(econ)
  • Off Campus Study(my summer internship)
  • Labor Economics

Last week my charming other half moved to Johnson City (about 2 hours north east of Knoxville) to begin pharmacy school at ETSU. I was able to help him move into his loft styled apartment in beautiful east Tennessee. His orientation was last Wednesday through Friday. He had his first day of classes yesterday. His classes sound very scary and even scarier when he doesn't abbreviate the titles. He is getting all settled into his new place however his roommate -Squee, a 2.5 lb Netherland Dwarf- is disgruntled that I'm not visiting constantly. Squee seems to be of the impression that Wes has killed Odin and me and is very grumpy as a result. I'll get to hear a bit more about his other classes later this evening.

More updates to come.
